ELGIN,IL., July 5, 2007 -- We're ecstatic to announce the news that this afternoon, Judge Peter Flynn dismissed Provena's lawsuit against Sherman Hospital, the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board (IHFPB) and IDPH. By doing so, the Judge upheld the IHFPB's decision to grant Sherman a Certificate of Need (CON), rejected Provena's arguments, and ruled that the Planning Board did its job appropriately.
As many of you are aware, this matter went before the Planning Board numerous times, by order of the Judge. Every time, the Planning Board re-affirmed their original decision. Now, the Circuit Court has also affirmed the Board's decision, and we're thrilled to put this matter behind us and focus on the excellent work happening at the site at Big Timber and Randall.
This project is important in preserving and expanding the quality of healthcare in the region. We're encouraged by the Court's ruling today, and look forward to helping improve access to healthcare throughout the area. We thank you all for your ongoing support.
